History

The Old Albanian Association was constituted in 1892 to keep former pupils and staff of St Albans School in touch with the School and with one another. The School itself traces its origins to the year 948, beside St Albans Abbey.

Today the Association supports a family of sporting and social clubs, holds reunions and dinners through the year, and works closely with the School.

The School is founded

St Albans School is established beside the Abbey — among the oldest seats of learning in the world.

1892

The Association is constituted

Old Albanians form the Association, under the motto Non Nobis Nati, to keep in touch for life.

1920s

The first Annual Dinner

The tradition of the Annual Dinner begins — to this day the centrepiece of the OA calendar.

1950s

The sporting clubs take root

Rugby, cricket and the other OA clubs establish themselves at the Woollam Playing Fields.

2001

The 948 Sports Foundation

A registered charity is founded by the OA Sports Club to fund youth sport across St Albans.

Old Albanians around the world stay connected through events, sport and the OA network.
